It was wonderful to welcome pupils, teachers and parents from our sister schools across the world, to Brighton College Bangkok for the inaugural Brighton College International Schools Games!
The opening ceremony saw Headmaster Nick Gallop and CEO of Brighton College International Schools Graeme Owton formally welcome the participants and present their representatives with a commemorative flag.
The athletes were cheered through the College by our pupils in a TukTuk led procession, before completing a lap of honour behind their own individualised TukTuk!
Day 1 of the Brighton College International Schools Games, featuring Athletics and Swimming, was an exciting display of talent and sportsmanship, played in a spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition.
Athletes from all of our sister schools showcased their abilities, pushing each other to achieve personal bests while embodying the values of curiosity, confidence, and kindness. Most impressive was the way all pupils stepped up to ensure every point mattered.
On Day 2 of the Brighton College International Schools Games, the competition intensified as the boys' teams participated in an exciting football tournament. Meanwhile, the girls took part in two highly competitive tournaments: basketball and netball.
Both events saw fantastic performances, with players displaying agility, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship - a hallmark of these inaugural Games. The atmosphere both indoors and outdoors was electric as teams from all our sister schools.
The final day of competition at the Brighton College International Schools Games was filled with excitement as the boys took to the basketball court and the girls competed fiercely in football. The atmosphere was electric, especially with a thunderstorm calling a halt to the Football for an hour!
Players were determined to give their all, leaving everything on the court and the field in a display of skill, determination, and sportsmanship. The spectators created a vibrant and supportive environment as each team fought for victory.
As the last whistles blew and the games came to a close, there was a collective sense of pride and achievement among the athletes.
The Brighton College International Schools Games drew to a close with a Cultural Trip which took pupils on an unforgettable journey to the heart of Bangkok, immersing them in the city's rich history and vibrant culture. The day began with a visit to the Royal Barges Museum, where students admired the stunningly ornate, historical boats that carry royalty during grand ceremonies.
Next, they marvelled at the breathtaking beauty of Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, with its intricate spires and panoramic views of the city. The cultural experience culminated in a celebratory lunch aboard a cruise boat on the Chao Phraya River, complete with Karaoke and Thai cultural performances.
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Brighton College Al Ain, Brighton College Dubai, Brighton College Singapore, Brighton College Vibhavadi and Brighton College Vietnam to Brighton College Bangkok for the BCIS Games. It was definitely a week to remember and we will be thinking about this event for a long time. We cannot wait to see you all again for the next one!
Thank you!
