Our English department aims to instill pupils with a love of literature and language, with many lessons being discussion-based. Pupils are encouraged to express an informed personal response to a range of texts and are taught how to improve their analytical and creative writing skills, developing arguments with accuracy, fluency and sophistication.

In Mathematics, we nurture pupils' confidence and develop their fluency in numeracy and algebra, which they then apply to problems involving shape and statistics. Our teaching strategies support pupils in becoming skilled problem solvers and in reflecting thoughtfully on their methods and solutions.

We strive to make the study of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics both relevant and engaging by using a wide range of demonstrations and hands-on experimental work. By nurturing curiosity and encouraging pupils to question and explore the complexities of the world around them, often beyond the confines of the syllabus, pupils develop strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and consistently achieve high academic standards. Pupils begin some IGCSE Science units in Year 9, and in Year 10, they follow either the Combined Science (Double Award) or Separate Sciences (Triple Award) pathway.

We offer Geography and History to all year groups from Year 9, with Year 7 and 8 studying our unique “Story of Our Land” course, which combines Geography and History together, from a local perspective. Business Studies and Psychology are optional subjects at IGCSE and A Level, and Economics is also offered as an option at IGCSE. All Humanities subjects are suited to those who are naturally curious and enjoy analysis. They teach pupils how to question what is presented to them and builds critical thinkings skills. There is also many academic skills taught in Humanities including research and essay writing, preparing pupils for university and beyond.

A fundamental understanding of computing enables pupils to be not just educated users of technology, but innovators capable of designing new computers and programmes to improve the quality of life for everyone. Computing is not only intellectually stretching, it also teaches problem-solving and leads to multiple career paths. 

Our language courses in Thai and Mandarin ensure pupils have a confident grasp of the formal written language, the confidence to speak in a variety of situations and possess the key reading and comprehension skills. For non-Thai’s, we develop their conversational skills and familiarity with the Thai alphabet, and they do not complete and examination at IGCSE level. As we grow as a school, we will look to introduce European languages, such as French and Spanish.

All pupils study Art until the end of Year 9 and can choose it as an optional subject at both IGCSE and A Level. The subject combines the academic study of art and design with the development of creativity and practical skills. Pupils are introduced to a range of media, and this creative breadth allows them to explore their natural abilities and strengths.

Pupils who enjoy thinking creatively, problem solving, designing products, making models, manufacturing products or testing ideas, will enjoy and flourish in GCSE DT. The course is based around learning and developing the skills required to design and make products manufactured in woods, metals and plastics. Pupils use a wide range of creative industrial processes to shape and form materials into functioning products.

In Key Stage 3, all pupils study Music, Thai Music, and Drama, building a broad foundation in creativity and performance. At IGCSE and A Level, pupils can choose Music and Drama as optional subjects, allowing them to deepen their skills and artistic expression. The Performing Arts challenge pupils and help to build their self-confidence. Through collaboration and innovation, pupils bring ideas to life, develop their unique artistic voices, and gain skills that extend far beyond the stage.

Drama at Brighton College Bangkok  Vibhavadi is an exciting and dynamic course for pupils passionate about theatre, whether as actors, directors, or designers. It encourages creativity, communication, collaboration, and leadership, while also developing skills in empathy and problem-solving. Pupils gain both practical and theoretical knowledge, exploring rehearsal techniques, performance styles, and technical design elements such as set, costume, lighting, and sound. Through hands-on experience, they learn how to bring stories to life on stage with originality and confidence.

IGCSE Music at Brighton College Bangkok  Vibhavadi is a practical, creative, and academic course, offering pupils the opportunity to develop their performance skills, compose original music, and explore a wide range of musical styles. Pupils gain a deeper understanding of how music is constructed and developed, from initial ideas to a finished piece. They also analyse music from different genres and cultures, while studying the social and historical influences that shape musical composition and performance.

 This course is ideal for pupils who sing or play an instrument and want to refine their musicianship while developing a broad appreciation for the art of music.
