Creative Arts Scholars are pupils who demonstrate strong performance, creative ability or potential in Music, Drama, Dance or Art, together with curiosity, commitment and a willingness to respond positively to feedback and new challenges.

Our Creative Arts Scholars demonstrate creative ability or potential, alongside imagination, commitment and a genuine desire to develop their craft. They:
- demonstrate strong ability or potential in Music, Drama, Dance or Art
- show creativity, imagination and confidence in your chosen discipline
- practise, rehearse or create with commitment
- respond positively to feedback and direction
- are willing to experiment, take creative risks and try new approaches
- enjoy sharing your work and contributing to the creative life of your school or community
The Creative Arts Scholarship process is designed to be valuable in its own right, offering every applicant meaningful insight into their creative strengths, potential and future development.
Every applicant will receive:
- individual feedback from the Creative Arts assessment and interview
- feedback against the key scholarship criteria
- recognition of current strengths
- clear areas for development
- recommendations for future practice, training or creative opportunities
- guidance on how to continue progressing within their chosen discipline
Every applicant leaves with useful feedback and clear next steps.
Creative Arts Scholars may have opportunities to:
- receive specialist guidance, mentoring and feedback
- take part in performances, productions, exhibitions or showcases
- attend workshops and masterclasses
- work with visiting artists and practitioners
- explore appropriate external competitions, auditions or creative opportunities
- develop work beyond normal curriculum expectations
- collaborate with other Creative Arts Scholars
- support younger pupils and contribute to the creative life of the College

Creative Arts profile A short summary of their main discipline, current involvement, training, performances, exhibitions or achievements from the last 2 to 3 years.

Supporting evidence Selected evidence appropriate to the discipline, such as recordings, photographs, portfolio work, performance history, examination grades or certificates.

Practical assessment / audition A discipline-specific assessment in Music, Drama, Dance or Art & DT: 3D Design, including an opportunity to respond to feedback or direction.

Teacher / specialist reference From a relevant teacher, tutor, director or instructor commenting on ability, commitment, creativity, responsiveness to feedback and potential.

Scholarship interview A short discussion exploring creative interests, aspirations, motivation, development goals and readiness to contribute as a BCBV Creative Arts Scholar.
To ensure they meet the College’s minimum entry requirements:

Academic record Most recent school reports, including Term 3 from the previous academic year and current-year reporting where available.

CAT4 assessment Applicants will complete a CAT4 assessment organised by the College. CAT4 will help us understand the pupil’s cognitive profile and academic potential. It will be considered alongside all other evidence rather than used as a single scholarship threshold.
Our assessment looks beyond current creative ability to understand each pupil’s artistic potential, approach to development and commitment to their chosen discipline.

Drawing, making, visual thinking, experimentation and development of a personal artistic voice.
Music: audition, musicianship and response to feedback
Drama: prepared performance, workshop and response to direction
Dance: technique, performance, musicality and response to choreography
Art & DT: 3D Design: portfolio, practical creative task and discussion of ideas/process
Academic
Academic scholarships for pupils current in Year 9 (IGCSE) or Year 11 (A Level) from August 2027 are awarded up to 40% based on assessment results. Successful candidates are motivated, intellectually curious pupils who contribute positively as senior school role models.
Creative Art
Creative Arts Scholarships are open to pupils from Year 4 to Year 11, with two awards available at each Key Stage, from Key Stage 2 through to Key Stage 5. Applicants should demonstrate strong ability or potential in their chosen discipline, supported by appropriate evidence of achievement, experience or creative work.
Sport
Sports scholarships are available for pupils from Year 4 to Year 11, with two awards offered at each key stage from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5. Applicants must demonstrate high-level performance in at least one sport at a local, national, or international level.
