Academic Scholars may have opportunities to:

  • take part in Scholar discussions, seminars and academic challenges
  • pursue independent research and academic writing
  • enter appropriate competitions
  • engage with visiting speakers and university opportunities
  • present and share ideas
  • receive mentoring and guidance to help them develop further
Being an Academic Scholar does not mean simply doing more schoolwork. It means going beyond the curriculum, not merely further through it.
 Academic Scholarship

  • Academic record Most recent school reports, including Term 3 from the previous academic year and current-year reporting where available.
  • Super-curricular achievements Evidence from the previous 2 to 3 years of academic interests and achievements beyond normal classroom requirements. This might include competitions, Olympiads, essay writing, research, coding, debating, reading, academic projects or other areas of intellectual interest.
  • CAT4 assessment Applicants will complete a CAT4 assessment organised by the College. CAT4 will help us understand the pupil’s cognitive profile and academic potential. It will be considered alongside all other evidence rather than used as a single scholarship threshold.
  • Academic challenge An unseen written, reasoning or problem-solving task.
  • Short video presentation In no more than two minutes, tell us about something you are intellectually curious about, where you would like your academic interests to take you, and how becoming an Academic Scholar could help you develop.
  • Academic interview An in-person discussion with members of the scholarship panel exploring the pupil’s interests, thinking, aspirations, response to challenge and readiness to engage with the Scholars’ Programme.
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Our assessment looks beyond academic attainment to understand how each pupil thinks, responds to challenge and approaches learning.
