Language Learning from Age 2
We have an exciting languages programme here at Brighton College Bangkok that offers pupils the opportunity to attend language lessons from Pre-Nursery all the way up to Sixth Form.
Pupils from Pre-Nursery class up to Year 4 all have weekly Mandarin and Thai lessons with specialist teachers.
Choice for Pupils
From Year 5 onwards pupils may pick two languages of their choice from Thai, Mandarin, French or Spanish.
At the end of Year 9 pupils have the choice of any of the four languages for IGCSE, as well as Thai First and Second Language and Mandarin First and Second Language.
We also offer all four languages at A Level.
Thai for Thais
In accordance with Thai law, Thai passport holders are obliged to choose Thai as one of their language options, but have the choice of Mandarin, French or Spanish for their second language.
For pupils who are not Thai or have dual nationality (hold two passports), they may choose two language options from Thai, French, Spanish and Mandarin.
Language Learning for Life
Learning a language at Brighton College Bangkok doesn't stop when you leave the classroom.
Throughout the academic year pupils are given the chance to participate in Thai cultural events such as Wai Khru day, Loy Krathong, and Songkran celebrations as well as a variety of cultural celebrations organised by the Languages Department, such as European Day of Languages, Lunar New Year and International Day.
There are also opportunities to make connections with penpals across the globe and communicate with them in foreign languages.
In the future, we hope to have the opportunity to organise trips abroad to give pupils a chance to use their language skills in the real world!
