Last week was Science Week, and the Science department decided to kick things off with a bang! Pupils were invited to a spectacle of Halloween-themed experiments. They got to see a vibrant pH colour show under a misty blanket of dry ice vapours, followed by a firm favourite – Elephant’s Toothpaste. Having fun with liquid nitrogen is a must for any science show, and many pupils got the chance to experience first-hand how substances change their properties at temperatures colder than -300F. After seeing how icing sugar ignites into a giant ball of fire, and how different metal compounds can give a beautiful rainbow of colours when passed through a flame, the show ended with a finale of hydrogen rockets zooming across the sports track.
