Our Sport Scholars demonstrate sporting ability alongside commitment, resilience and a genuine ambition to develop their potential. They:
- perform at a high level in one or more sports
- show strong technical, tactical or physical potential
- train consistently and respond positively to coaching
- demonstrate resilience, teamwork and commitment
- represent your current school, club or team with pride
- are motivated to develop beyond your current level
The Sport Scholarship process is designed to be valuable in its own right, offering every applicant meaningful insight into their sporting strengths, potential and future development.
Every applicant will receive:
- individual feedback from the Sport Scholarship assessment and interview
- feedback against the key scholarship criteria
- clear strengths and areas for development
- recommendations for future training and progression
- guidance on how to continue developing as an athlete
Every applicant leaves with useful feedback and clear next steps.
- Sporting profile A short summary of their main sport(s), current team or club involvement, representative level and key achievements from the last 2 to 3 years.
- Coach or PE teacher reference Commenting on performance, commitment, teamwork, coachability and potential.
- Supporting evidence Selected results, rankings, certificates or short performance footage where appropriate.
- Practical assessment An observed session assessing technical ability, decision-making, athletic potential, teamwork and response to coaching.
- Scholarship interview A short discussion exploring sporting goals, motivation, resilience, response to feedback and readiness to contribute as a BCBV Sport Scholar.
To ensure they meet the College’s minimum entry requirements: - Academic record Most recent school reports, including Term 3 from the previous academic year and current-year reporting where available.
- CAT4 assessment Applicants will complete a CAT4 assessment organised by the College. CAT4 will help us understand the pupil’s cognitive profile and academic potential. It will be considered alongside all other evidence rather than used as a single scholarship threshold.
Our assessment looks beyond sporting performance to understand each pupil’s potential, approach to development and character as a young athlete.
